Before leaving, I knew an Oktoberfest weekend would be big. I had very little idea just how big it was :) As an idea: almost 1,000,000 litres of beer consumed; about 15 000 chickens roasted and eaten; 10 whole oxen roasted and eaten; 900,000 visitors - and that was just on the opening weekend! Overall there are roughly 6 million people who attend the Oktoberfest festival from almost every part of the world! It's awesome.

We left London the Friday midday and arrived in Munich early hours of Saturday morning. That day was the opening day with the opening ceremony through the streets where the mayor of Munich taps the first keg and then the madness celebrations begin! From there it's just continuous partying!

Over the Saturday, Sunday and Monday we spent most of the time in the beer halls (you had to be seated to be served), meeting random people from all over the world and on the rollercoasters and other stupid rides, as well as eating some of the best food ever.

In the beer halls they had these massive pretzels and of course the food stands were amazing! Good times...
We left there on Monday evening after a full day of being in the beer tents, so the 20 hour drive back to London was a long and painful one. But we made it. To summarize the weekend, probably one of the best drinking weekends I've ever had. Definitely recommended, unless you value your liver, otherwise it rocks!
