After arriving back last week Tuesday morning, I decided to wait up that evening until Uns got home after her late flight back from Cork into Heathrow. Well, that was until she called me just before midnight to say she had tripped while running for the train at Clapham Junction station and fractured her front teeth and split her lip :( That certainly woke me up from my snoozing!! After organising a taxi to go meet her, it turned out she wouldn't need A&E that night and better to come home and sort it out in the morning. So the first few days back last week were mainly checking in on her and doing what she could until she got a dentist appointment to start some work on her teeth.

On Saturday, since it was nice and mild outside, we spent a good bit of the day outside enjoying the sunny weather. Then on Sunday morning we were up fairly early to head into town for breakfast and to try see a bit of the London Marathon. We started off with a coffee and bite to eat at London Grind on London Bridge (with breakfast still being rather tricky for Uns) and then up to the Shard's viewing deck which had a good elevated view towards Tower Bridge to catch some of the marathon runners heading over that.

After a bit of time up on the viewing levels, we made our way down and I headed off to Walton for the afternoon as I hadn't yet seen little Rory for this birthday after having been out in South Africa, so this was the first free afternoon we had since getting back. Uns couldn't make it unfortunately as she had her dentist appointment that afternoon to try get her teeth sorted and to see what they could do for her. After lunch at Greg and Kim's new place which I hadn't seen yet, we drove over to Cobham Park for a vintage car rally for a couple of hours. One of parents of the kids in Ethan's class had a car there for the afternoon, which is how Greg and Kim knew about it. The cars themselves were impressive, with the oldest one dating back to 1927 and all the others of a similar age too! After walking around there for a while, we headed back to Greg and Kim's place, picked up the bikes for the boys and then walked down to the park and river for a few hours. After a good few hours down there, I made my way to the train station and back up to London.

On Wednesday evening Uns and I met up at Canonbury Station in Islington for dinner at James and Fede's place, together with their friends Owen and Philippa. James and Fede had brought back some snacks and goodies from their recent trip to Italy, so they cooked that up for all of us, which really was so good. Had a good night there seeing them again and catching up!

Dinner with Friends

Last night was just a quiet one at home packing a few bags and later today, Uns and I are catching the train down in Axminster in Devon for our anniversary weekend away at River Cottage which should be good!
