After 6 years, 11 months and 4 days of living here in the UK, I am now officially a British citizen! I had submitted my citizenship forms a month or so ago and booked my citizenship ceremony for last night, which was down at the Wandsworth Town Hall.

So yesterday I left work a bit early and headed down towards Wandsworth to sort out my registration and briefing before Uns arrived a bit later. There were 51 of us being naturalized, all with a guest or two, so a fair number of us in the Town Hall. After the readings, the oaths and the pledges, we were all declared British citizens to a round of applause by the crowd, followed by the national anthem - God Save The Queen.

After the ceremony I figured I'd buy a couple of the official photos, then Uns and I decided on dinner and headed to the Alma, just opposite Wandsworth Station. Last time I was there was with Haig and Jack when Pete still worked there, which was back in 2008. I hadn't eaten there before, but the food was delicious... a whole lot more impressed with the food and service than I originally had expected. I went with the British classic pub dinner option of fish & chips - can't go wrong with that choice! After a decent meal and bottle of Prosecco there, we hopped on the train and headed home.

Tonight was another night eating out, just because it worked out easier than prepping food and dinner, especially with me being away over the weekend. After meeting up with Uns after work and taking a slightly scenic trip back to Putney via Richmond (!!), we settled in at the Arab Boy for dinner and a beer. They have their Thursday night pub quiz which we didn't participate in, but worth keeping in mind for another evening there.

After dinner we headed home and I quickly packed for the weekend away in Budapest. It's Si Woolley's stag do over there and we all flying out tomorrow morning until Sunday evening, so should definitely be a good few days over there!
